Alcatraz is an almost classic European team game that has become a recognized hit. It is “almost classic” because you need to escape the prison with all due entourage, and not alike usual team games all players cannot win at once: one of them has to stay in jail.

The game process takes place on a board representing the prison map. You need to walk through locations and perform different actions, leading to the escape plan completion. Each set the board and the plan differ.

Every move the scapegoat is chosen – the player who doesn't get a part of the plan but is able to prevent others from escaping. Due to this the game turns to complicated negotiations greatly developing communications skills.

Alcatraz is one of the Europen hits which you have to see if you enjoy well thought-out boardgames.
